Description

Galatians is a letter written in a hurry, by a man afraid his friends were putting the yoke back on. It holds a road into Arabia, a handshake in Jerusalem, a table in Antioch where someone stood up and left, a child crying Abba, a basket of fruit no law can forbid, and a heavy load shared between two backs. Ephesians is slower, written by the same man in chains: a seal pressed into warm clay, a wall with a gap in it, roots going down, a harbor at sunset, a lamp in the dark, and armor laid out piece by piece on a table.

This book walks through them in forty short poems, in five parts: two for Galatians and three for Ephesians. Each poem sits beside a picture and under a single line of Scripture. The pictures stay with the things the letters touch—a yoke, a seal, a loom, a belt and a pair of sandals—and leave the faces to your imagination.
