Description

Matthew begins with a long list of names, four surprising mothers tucked inside it, and ends on a mountain with a promise: I am with you always. In between: a star over a small house, a family slipping away by night, fishing nets left on the shore, salt and a lamp on a stand, birds that never plant and wildflowers that never spin, a house that stands in the storm, a mustard seed, a pearl, a hand reaching down to a sinking man, and a stone rolled away at dawn.

This book walks through it in forty short poems, in five parts that follow Matthew’s own rhythm of story and teaching. Each poem sits beside a picture and under a single line of Scripture. The pictures stay with the things the story touches—a loaf and a stone, a yoke on a wall, a lamp gone out in a garden—and leave the faces to your imagination.
