Description

His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. — Song of Solomon 5:16

Every other virtue this book asks of you was his first. The fruit of the Spirit was never a to-do list — it was a portrait, and the portrait already has a face.

Forty intricate designs trace two Scriptures at once: the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) shown as Christ's own character, one fruit at a time, and the excellency of love (1 Corinthians 13), followed clause by clause from without love I am nothing to the greatest of these is love.

• Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Temperance — each one a scene from his life, not an abstraction
• The excellency of love, traced through Gethsemane, the well at Sychar, and the cross
• Nine further portraits of his beauty: the Good Shepherd, the Word made flesh, the empty tomb, and Revelation's Worthy is the Lamb
