A compilation of studies and a guide on how to celebrate communion at home or anywhere. Pray the italicized prayers on the following pages to help you celebrate communion. Pray these declarations and prayers daily and receive by faith the body and blood of Christ with thanksgiving and set time aside to meditate on the following truths about the love and sacrifice of Christ and watch your life transform from glory to glory.
Understanding Communion: In the sacrament of Holy Communion, God makes use of physical elements (bread and wine) so that with prayer and faith they become a means of experiencing God’s grace in a special way. If you don’t have wine or bread you can use other things like juice and a cracker. The important part is the remembering and meditation time upon the truths of God’s love and the sacrifice of Jesus that He provided for us as a means for us to share His life and commune with Him for the rest of eternity. To properly discern the body it’s important to take your understanding of the sacrifice of Christ and tell God that you are accepting what He did for you to be enough for your forgiveness you are placing your trust in the blood of Christ instead of your own good works to save you.
The sacrament of Holy Communion, is about remembering and offering thanksgiving to God for what Jesus did for us through His sacrifice and receiving by faith His very own life into our hearts and souls. Because of His sacrifice we can enjoy a union with God and with other Christians. The term Eucharist means thanksgiving, and in this sacrament we give thanks for all that God did for us at the cross on that day when Jesus died for us.
Christ said, “do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19; 1 Corinthians 11:24-25). As we share in the sacrament, it becomes for us the living sign of Christ’s sacrifice upon the cross, made for us once and for all time. The emphasis is on the grace and operation of God for us in the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, made present and active through the Holy Spirit.
The next section has bible verses for you to read, and ponder, and meditate on and then their is a sample prayer in italicized bold that you can pray along with if you’d like. Think about the truths embedded even in the prayers to help you grow in your understanding of the cross and sacrifice which you can bring with you to the communion table time in order to “take it worthily.” Bring the weight of your understanding with faith to the communion table.
Luke 23:44-45(AMPC)= It was now about the sixth hour (midday), and darkness enveloped the whole land and earth until the ninth hour, While the sun’s light faded; and the curtain [of the Holy of Holies] of the temple was torn in two
John 12:32(AMPC)= And I, when I am lifted up from the earth [on the cross], will draw and attract all men [Gentiles as well as Jews] to Myself
Exodus 17:8-15(AMPC)=Then came Amalek [descendants of Esau] and fought with Israel at Rephidim. And Moses said to Joshua, Choose us out men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand. So Joshua fought with Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the hilltop. When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; and when he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands were heavy and grew weary. So [the other men] took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other side; so his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua mowed down and disabled Amalek and his people with the sword. And Moses built an altar and called the name of it, The Lord is my Banner
Father, I thank You that you gave the victory as Moses lifted up his arms for hours, and You give me as well as all who believe in Jesus, victory over eternal death, because Jesus lifted up His arms for hours on the cross and took the judgment for my sins once and for all.

Father, I thank You for the picture of the crimson worm that Jesus claimed to be from Psalms 22, which reveals a truth to us about His sacrifice for us. Just as the babies of the crimson worm feeded on the body of their mom who sacrificed herself to provide nourishment, protection, and covering, the same goes for
Numbers 24:2-5 (AMPC)=And Balaam lifted up his eyes and he saw Israel abiding in their tents according to their tribes. And the Spirit of God came upon him

4 He [Balaam] who hears the words of God, who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, but having his eyes open and uncovered, he says:
5 How attractive and considerable are your tents, O Jacob, and your tabernacles, O Israel!.…

You have provided the way back into fellowship and communion with
You through Jesus’ sacrifice, blotting out my sin
Jesus has appeared in different forms. At times, His disciples didn’t recognize Him after He resurrected, until he broke bread before them. One time He appeared as a gardener or Mary thought He was a gardener and didn’t recognize Him until He spoke her name. Another time He appeared to the two disciples walking to Emmaus and they thought he was a stranger but their hearts burned when He broke open the Word from the Old Testament about Himself.
The Word says our God is a consuming fire. Jesus is the Living Water. He appeared to Moses through the burning bush. The bush in itself was just a bush, but God can possess the substance of His own created matter and appear through His creation to His creation as He is Spirit.
The Word also says God is Love. His Spirit can dwell in a physical object like a burning bush and the ark of the covenant, or the Tree of Life, or Living Water. These are different forms that Jesus has revealed Himself through. He also has chosen to reveal a truth to us through the crushed incense that the high priest took into the holy of holies once per year, and that crushed incense revealed the Truth of Jesus’ sacrifice and points to the crushing He went through for us.
Jesus is the Truth, He is truth, the God of truth. That crushed incense is a way we can see a glimpse of His beauty, the beauty of Christ. When we look and behold and see that incense and imagine it touching those hot coals which represented the fiery judgment of God against all of our sins, we see the sweet smelling cloud covering filling the holy of holies and it’s a picture of what Jesus became for us on the cross.
He became that sweet fragrance cloud covering that filled all time and space for all of those who repent and believe and put their faith in Him and His sacrifice/blood. Jesus becomes what we need. He became what we needed. He provides of Himself to us what we need. He is our Provider and the provision at times.
When the children of Israel got thirsty and needed water in the desert they received the water through the rock that they needed to stay alive, and over in the New Testament, the apostle Paul said that that ROCK was Christ! He became what was needed. He is beautiful, He is Love. He is Truth.
Jesus said this is My body, that piece of bread becomes Jesus, Jesus becomes that bread for us. The blood He shed for us is given to us to drink as we partake of communion. He said this cup is My blood given just for you. As you drink it, you are receiving Jesus into your life. You are receiving Jesus’ life into your body. By an act of faith you are accepting what Jesus accomplished for you and celebrating His victory over death and the world. He tasted death for you so you can drink His life.
Jesus shares His life with us! His everlasting life. He said in John 6 that if we don’t partake of this communion bread and wine (His Body and Blood), that we have no life in us. He wants His life flowing in us and through us.
As we partake communion we receive Jesus! It’s love in a cup. It’s forgiveness that we drink. It’s acceptance and sonship and cleansing and healing that we eat when we eat that bread. It’s much more than just symbols. Hallelujah!
Father, thank you for showing us how wonderful You are through our vision of all that Jesus is for us. You are truly a wonderful God.
Thoughts on God’s Covering
When we accepted Jesus and put our faith in His sacrifice something wonderful happened. Part of the operation of God was to have a people that looked blameless to Him. We were placed beneath a cloud of incense that covered all of our sin. To understand why this should make us shout Hallelujah we need to know some background about one of the practices of the Jewish people in the Old Testament.
Once a year the high priest was instructed to take a handful of incense, which had been beaten into a fine powder. This represented the beatings, which Jesus had to endure for us. Then the high priest took some live coals from the fire and after entering the most holy place would quickly put that handful of incense on the coals. Instantly a sweet smelling cloud arose and covered the mercy place above the Ark. The high priest became immersed in the cloud and it reached up and pleased God. Then when Father looked down, he saw the high priest through the cloud, which represented Jesus and his suffering. The high priest’s life was spared by a substitute sacrifice for the stroke of God’s wrath. His acceptance by God rested in what the incense represented. (Lev. 16:6, 11-13)
Jesus went in as our High Priest before our Father with all of our sins placed upon Him. He had no covering and felt the full blast of judgment on sin for everyone. A cloud arose from the burning incense, which Jesus represented, that spread around the world. It moved through history to Adam and it spread through all time and space including right up till the end of the millennial reign of Christ. It covered all people of all generations who have placed their trust in the everlasting atonement covering produced by the sacrifice of Jesus.
1 John 1:7- “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
More Thoughts on God’s Forgiveness
I remembered a line in a sermon from my uncle talking about how complete God’s forgiveness is. He said that when we come back to God in our hearts and confess our sins to Him and repent that we don’t have to say, “God I know I did this thing 20 times would you forgive me 21 times?” He will have to look at you and have to say; “I don’t know what you are talking about, as far as I am concerned this is the first time that you’ve come regarding this matter.”
We are not supposed to live the Christian life on our own because we can’t. We need to abide in the Vine. There is cleansing in His light, the light of God’s fellowship. God is light. That is why when we mess up we have to run to God and get into His light because that’s where the cleansing flows. David said that he would not give sleep to his eyelids until he found a resting place for the Most High. He was good at repenting.
The New Covenant states in Hebrews 10:16-17, “I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them. And their sins and iniquities will I remember against them no more forever!” When a certain brother saw Jesus in Heaven during a vision he felt like confessing his sins to Him and Jesus said, “I don’t know about it because I washed it away!”
When my uncle Roland was in the Throne Room he saw the record books of many lives including Abraham’s and he couldn’t find the mistakes he made about how when he lied about his wife being his sister and the other things. He asked God if he had another book on Abraham’s records and God said, “ I don’t have another book, I do not record failure in heaven.”
Ephesians 1:4-5 states that God’s plan even before he made the world was to have a people who would be made holy in His eyes without a single fault, covered in His love.
Isaiah 44:22- I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and as a cloud your sins: return to Me, for I have redeemed you.
Isaiah 38:17- …For You have cast all my sins behind Your back
Micah 7:19- He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
Golden Covering Message
When I led the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, I led them out following their acceptance of the Passover Lamb. And they were to remember this every year and be reminded that they were saved because of the death of this substitute in this lamb.
The mercy seat in the holy place had to be sprinkled with blood. No one could approach the mercy seat without blood. At the mercy seat there was a golden lid and underneath that golden lid there was a box called the ark of the covenant. I had Moses take the broken laws and put them in that ark. I put this golden lid over the top of this box so that I can’t see the broken laws. Then I had them take the blood of the sacrifice and sprinkle it over the top of the mercy seat so that when someone comes to Me asking for mercy I look down and I cannot see their sins because they’re hidden under the blood. And every person who comes to Me by the way of the blood has identified themselves with the sacrifice that has already been made.
When you come to Abba through Me He cannot see one solitary thing. I am your golden covering. My blood and sacrifice covers every sin that you ever had or will ever make. As a principle, anything that will hide fellowship with Me, needs to be confessed and repented of and then I will wipe it out.
I have it all written out paid in full for everybody but there’s a lot of people that haven’t come to Me yet. I have blotted out as a thick cloud all of your transgressions. I have cast all of them in the depths of the sea. And your sins and iniquities I will remember no more forever. But you must come, call, or look to Me in faith to be saved.
The tabernacle in heaven didn’t go into effect until My blood was applied. I told Moses to take that blood because the life is in it and it’s going to be able to make atonement, it’s going to be able to speak. When I looked down at that mercy seat and saw the blood, the blood carried a message to Me because the life of that animal that was slain represented life, and in tabernacle worship the priest could not say one word while he was in that holy place.
When the priest came in, I wanted to let the people know that I listened to another kind of a voice. When he came in with that blood, the blood spoke.
I let Paul have a glimpse of heaven and he saw My Abba, he saw Me, and he saw My blood and said its still speaking. It’s eternal; it will never lose its power. It carries a message, Abba they’re forgiven, I’ve taken their place, and their sins are atoned for. When I went in, My blood carried a message to My Abba and when I applied it to that tabernacle all at once My Abba’s ears picked up the message. My blood was speaking, and is saying, they’re forgiven, their sins are destroyed, the records are gone.
My plan for My people was to bring them to a place where nobody could lay a charge on them. Because your faith is in My blood, I have a gift of grace and righteousness over you and when I look down at that gift of righteousness which is imputed to you, My Abba is looking at My righteousness and He can’t find anything to reprove there.
NOTES ON COMMUNION
The Holy Spirit said,“Because of the accusations of satan and the daily reminders of sin, failure, and human weakness, you may forget what God has done. You must be reminded; you must remember. God in His wisdom has provided a time and a way for this to be accomplished. This is the purpose of His communion service. A time to remember what Jesus has done. Here He asks us to look upon His body to see your sin and the sins of the world placed upon Him by God, every lie; every sin against yourself, or others; murder, all adultery, all rebellion and idolatry; all enmity through witchcraft and Satanism. Yes, everything with which you can be charged is laid on Him. He has become sin for you, bearing in His body the concentrated dregs of the rottenness of billions of people.
He points to His body as you hold in that symbolic, in that broken body, He points to His body, to your sin, and tells you that your sin has already been judged, you are free. As you behold Him smitten of God with the searing stroke of His judgment, you see there the canceled sin of the world. Jesus felt the fire of God’s wrath so it wouldn’t fall on us.
With this reminder of your peace with Him, you can speed the message to the world. You can come, you have been accepted. God’s wrath has been turned away. Then He asks us to look at Jesus the High Priest, carrying His blood entering the very tabernacle of God in the heavens where the records of sin is kept; And we see the High Priest. He said, “see Him as He splashes His blood on the book of broken laws, upon the altar of the broken commandments, thus as a thick cloud blotting out forever the records of anything in heaven that’s written in heaven that you could be charged with.
Not only the act of sin
as the evil of sin in this earth and in your life, but the records of it. And He said, “As we see Him doing that, we see Him bringing to us a new covenant. “This is the covenant that I will make with them after these days says the Lord. I will put my laws into their hearts and in their minds will I write them. And their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”
He tells us now as we see Him, the spotless Lamb of God prepared from the foundation of the world. We see Him now as the sin bearer, coming before God with filthy garments. See Him there stricken of God. See Him now as the High Priest sprinkling the blood in heaven, sprinkling the blood of the covenant that is now fulfilled over all of man’s possible failures, covered by blood that speaks to God, and says, “It’s done.” See Him totally remove the need for pardon by removing the remembrance of sin. When Jesus came the need for pardon was removed because pardon before God is remembrance, reminds Him of the sin of what He had to forgive us for. But when Jesus came, He removed the records completely. He removed the stain and the guilt, and His blood speaks and says justified, restored to a place of total innocence, because of Christ. The place that was occupied before sin ever entered the world.
So let the Lord sprinkle your life with this truth and it will pull form your conscience, from your minds, those things that would trouble you, and you can be free. As we take the energies that we have spent struggling with these things, and start turning those energies to letting our lives be that channel for His life to flow through.
